Warren Memorial Hospital works to create a more healing environment by integrating the Planetree organization’s concepts of patient-centered care. The hospital has made a number of changes in the way patients and families experience healthcare. The Care Partner program encourages patients to designate a family member or friend to participate in the physical care, education and emotional support of the patient in partnership with the staff. A kitchen is available for use by patients and families. A family waiting room on the second floor provides a gathering space for patient and family use, and also offers health information resources including Internet access, brochures and other educational materials. A healing garden in front of the building provides a welcoming spot to relax and enjoy nature. Aquariums, plants and fountains bring nature’s soothing sights and sounds indoors.
